The Clay Loft opened its doors in January 2018 after months of renovations and kit out to restore this wonderful former 17th Century Dye House.
The studio is now a vibrant pottery with a growing reputation for its exceptional classes run by Adrian Bates and for a regular calendar of weekend masterclasses, talks, demonstrations and workshops. Above all, The Clay Loft is a members studio offering access to clay workers.

Membership is designed for people that are 'indepentent users of clay and whilst it is not a teaching space day to day it is a learning space with a supportive and welcoming community of members. 

Studio facilities

Members will have access to:

• 9 potter's wheels:
  • 6 Shimpo RK3E VL Whisper Potter's wheels,
  • 2 McMeekin Momentum wheels
  • 1 Shimpo tabletop training wheel
• 5 kilns:
  • A Paragon Firefly test kiln
  • A Top loading Electric (250 litres)
  • A Front Loading Electric (450 litres)
  • 2 Gas reduction kiln (additional charges apply)
• Ceramic equipment:
  • 2 Pug Mills
  • Roderveld Jumbo Junior Table Top Slab Roller 950x400mm

  • Shimpo Whirlers
    
  • Griffin Grip (for turning)
• Tools - A selection of quality throwing, turning and modelling tools for both wheel and hand building.  A full range of tools will be available for purchase by members.

Dedicated 'Super Member's Studio

The newest addition to The Clay Loft is our dedicated super members studio space offering dedicated workspaces for a small number of dedicated professional makers.
