About the workshop
Ian will lead a workshop aimed at improving throwers and focused on individual needs; addressing poor habits and enabling throwers to achieve the next level. The workshop will be limited to 8 people and will cover numerous throwing challenges including lidded forms as well as addressing individual areas of difficulty.
Max of 8 students.

A masterclass in making totemic structures with Wendy Lawrence
Venue: Clay@The Fold, The Fold, Bransford, WR6 5JB
Date: 21st & 22nd March 2026
Timings: 10am to 4:30pm
Price: £320 including all materials
Description: This two day class will explore designing and creating totemic structures under the expert tutelage of Wendy Lawrence. This will be a highly demanding workshop where you will work with large pieces of clay, carving and adding texture and movement to forms with regular demonstrations and guidance by Wendy. There will also be the opportunity to fire your finished work in our onsite wood kiln for later collection.
Note: The cost of firing work from the class is additional. Work completed on the class can be taken away (wet/leather hard) following the class for no additional fee.

A 4-day Wood firing course at Clay@The Fold

Date: 9th to 12th April 2026
Timings: Day 1 from 10am.
Price: £550 including firing and meals*. On-site camping possible at additional cost.
Description: Tom will lead a 4-day workshop to fire the double phoenix downdraft fast fire kiln at Clay@The Fold. The course is limited to 8 people and participant will be encouraged to bring a good quantity** of pots to include in the firing.
- Day 1: Wood and kiln preparation, glazing work, preliminary packing
- Day 2: Kiln packing, build and seal the wicket (door), ‘candling’ to condition the chamber and firebox, commence firing
- Day 3: Conclude firing, rest, background activity***
- Day 4: Unpack the kiln (pm)
* Supplied meals detailed in joining instruction (please note The Fold is a vegetarian site).
**Expected to be iro 20+ pots but you will be encouraged to bring more!!
