Ceramics for all abilities
Every year we run a programme of ceramics classes for potters and budding potters of all abilities. The class terms start in January, April and September. Terms are 12 weeks long and where possible have a half term break to correspond with the local school calendars. The classes are run by Adrian Bates and cover a range of making techniques, processes and methods involved in throwing pots on the wheel as well as hand building. Classes are open to adults (over 16 years of age) and no previous experience working with clay is required.
The structured 12 week classes include:
- Clay preparation
- An introduction to throwing on the potter's wheel
- Thumb/pinch pots
- Hand building with coils
- Hand building with slabs
- Various decoration techniques
- Glazing
