Covid 19 measures

FAQs

We understand that you may have concerns about participating in a group workshop in the current climate, we hope that this will reassure you that we have clear processes in place to ensure your safety whilst maintaining a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There may be adjustments to these procedures as government guidelines change and evolve. We also welcome any feedback you may have to make your visit better.

How will social distancing work?

Class sizes are reduced and members are asked not to use the studio making areas during classes.  With smaller group sizes everyone can be well spaced out - please maintain sensible distances from others at all times where possible.  We as that you do not arrive early at the studio and that you wait to be let in when the studio has been prepared for you.

Do you have hand washing facilities?

Yes, The Clay Loft has its own dedicated sink area.  One sink has been designated for hand washing. There is also a hand sanitiser station at the entrance to the studio. Please  use these facilities regularly during your visit.

Do we have to wear face coverings?

Unless government guidelines on the wearing of face masks changes, all tutors will be wearing face shields. You are most welcome to wear masks, but the increased space and reduced numbers mean that 2m distance can be maintained so face coverings are not mandatory. We do ask that you bring a face covering in case you are involved in more intimate demonstrations, or you need to be within 2m of someone else.

How many people will be in the studio at once?

Workshops are typically up to 10 people and studio access is limited to 12 people at a time.  This will ensure studio users are able to get the best out of the studio and be safe.

How will the studio be kept clean?

The workshop area will be cleaned before each class, however we do ask that members and class goers play their part and use the cleaning products provided in the studio and toilets to wipe down the taps, doorhandles, locks etc on entry and exit

Will the space be ventilated?

Yes, doors and windows will be open to allow for better ventilation. Although the teaching space is heated it can get cold, particularly with the increased need for ventilation and in the Winter months, so dress warmly for your session.

Will there be refreshments provided?

No refreshments, or lunch will be provided by The Clay Loft, so please bring your own flask and snacks. During this time, crockery and cutlery is also not available, so make sure you bring whatever need.

Will we have access to a toilet?

Yes, there is a toilet at the entrance to Gallery 1673 for you to use. As there is a narrow corridor leading to it we ask that you use common sense when entering, exiting and waiting for the toilet to give everyone enough space. Please use the antibacterial spray and paper towels provided to wipe down the taps, doorhandles, locks etc on entry and exit

What do I do if I feel unwell on the day?

If you feel ill or have any of the symptoms of Covid 19 it is vitally important that you DO NOT ATTEND your course, and inform us as soon as you can, please see below for more information on refunds.

Can I get a refund if I can't make a workshop due  to Covid 19?

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee a refund. However, if there is a waitlist for your course and we are able to replace you, we may be able to refund in those exceptional circumstances. Please read our refund policy here

What will happen if the studio has to shut or a workshop is cancelled?

In  the event that the studio is forced to close its doors or a workshop has to be cancelled you will be notified immediately by email.  We will always try to rebook classes and workshops for a later date and will offer the option to transfer you booking to the new date or issue a refund.  In the event of as refund we will contact you individually to request bank details for the payment.  If an event has to be cancelled mid session (ie after it has started) the same policy as above will apply, though in the case of refunds the value of the refund will be calculated less the costs incurred.
